Optouts and why you need to include them

Here is a friendly reminder about how to abide by those SPAM Laws we are always talking about.

​​There are some major consequences and we are not just talking financially (although it is a pretty substantial amount!) but it might annoy your customers too.

The best way to keep your members and database happy is by including the option for them to unsubscribe from your list. Another way to keep your list happy is to send out valuable information with offers that will assist them and is of interest. This will go a long way in maintaining your database and will result in higher engagement and responses.​​


So before you hit ‘Send To All’ run off a checklist:

  • Is your Business name included in either the Sender ID or within the message itself?
  • Is there a way of contacting you? Either phone number or email address within the message
  • And the ever important…Optout instructions! For example ‘SMS STOP to 04XX XXX XXX’

Don’t be like these poor souls who have to pay a big hefty fine that could easily been avoided if they just followed the simple optout instructions.​​
